CV Camper Hire FAQ’S

Here you will find some of the most frequently asked questions.

What is included in the standard hire?

Fully comprehensive main driver insurance, UK breakdown cover, cooking utensils and equipment, cooking gas, diesel thermostat heating and lots of little extras, if you are planning to travel abroad, you will need to add our European travel pack. An average of 200 miles per day is included, additional miles at 15p per mile.
Each Campervan has  - sink, 2 ring gas hob (with gas bottle), fridge with freezer compartment, Rock and Roll bed for two downstairs, Pop-top roof bed for two with mattress upstairs, curtains and front windscreen cover, USB charging points, 2 x 3 pin, 240v plug sockets (main hook up required), electric hook – up cable with 3 pin socket adaptor, solar panel which charges the leisure battery, tow bar, full tank of diesel (to be return with full tank of diesel).
We also provide - Kettle, saucepans, small ridge monkey grill pan, sharp knife, scissors, cooking utensils, corkscrew, bottle opener, can opener, cleaning materials,  head torch, smoke and carbon monoxide detector, fire extinguisher & fire blanket.

Who can drive the campervans?

Anyone over the age of 23 and under 75 years old, who has held a full UK driving license for 2 years, can drive our vans. Any convictions or bans or previous insurance claim/ incident must be declared on booking. Insurance supplements maybe added, we will advise on booking. Unfortunately, our insurance doesn’t cover drivers with over 6 points. The main driver’s insurance is included in the hire cost. Additional driver can be added at £10 per day.

What ID is required to hire a vehicle?

All documentation will need to be copied and emailed over no less than a week prior to hire commencement. 
The primary driver will need to provide a copy of the photo card drivers’ licence (UK only, address & ID must be up to date) Two forms of proof of address: 1 utility bill/statement (primary form of proof) and 1 other document (secondary form of proof). 
Primary form of proof can be an Electricity bill, Water, Gas, Broadband, Council Tax or Landline Secondary form of proof can be a Bank or Credit statement, Credit card bill or statement, Mortgage statement, HMRC or DWP documentation.
All documentation must be dated within 90 days of the hire date and the address & name on your licence must match both documents If you are adding an additional driver we also need to see their full licence. 
You must provide the requested ID before a vehicle can be released to you. If you are unsure what to bring, please check with us. 
All driving licences must be produced on collection of the van. With a DVLA license ‘check code’. Please apply www.gov.ukVerify

Can more than one-person drive?

Yes, it will need to be arranged in advance and will cost £10 per day, subject to insurance approval.

Can we take the campervan abroad?

Yes, but there is an extra cost of £10 per day for our European Upgrade Pack which must be taken if you are planning to leave the UK. This pack includes - European driving insurance certificate, European Roadside assistance cover, all items legally required to drive on the continent such as warning triangle, headlight adjustment, reflective vests etc. an information sheet on driving abroad and European. There are some limitations as to where you can travel so please tell us your travel plans before you book.

Is the mileage limited?

The daily mileage limit of 200 miles is averaged over the term of your hire. Therefore, a three night hire you can drive 800 miles.  Additional miles are charged at 15p per mile.

How do I pay?

A deposit of 50% payable to secure the booking initially, then the balance is due 42 days prior to the start of the Rental Period. Where the booking is confirmed less than 42 days prior to Collection, the total balance charge will be due on booking. Payment through PayPal or via BACS. Please do not hesitate to contact us directly if you require any help.
The security deposit is to be paid 7 days prior to rental hire. Payments can be made via Head Office via phone.

What induction do you offer? are the Campervans complicated to use?

When you come to collect your camper van, we will give you a full induction and let you have a go at various operations before you drive away. Each camper van has an information manual written by us with all the basics and full manufacturer’s handbook with more details, due to Covid 19 all these will be available on- line. If you are stuck on something you can call us. Please allow at least 45 minutes when you collect your camper van so that we can give you a full guided tour of your camper van and complete all the paperwork necessary.

What has changed since the Covid19 pandemic?

To ensure we maintain social distancing, and the highest hygiene standards.
When you collect your van, it will have been deep cleaned with antibacterial treatment.
All paperwork we will email to you. Also, we will ask you to send us your ID information required for the insurance to us via email three days prior to your hire.
When you collect your van, it will be ready to drive away. We will send you an email with the details of operation.
All plates, bowls, cups & cutlery supplied will be disposable. These will be compostable to help the environment. Please do bring your own if you prefer and take home when you return.

How many people can sleep in the van?

The camper sleeps four people.

Are the campervans suitable for child seats?

All our campers are fitted with 3 point seat belts in the front and back, which will allow you to fit your children’s’ car seat.

Can I bring my dog?

Dogs are welcome. Charges apply for dogs, please call for further information.

Is there any heating to keep us warm?

Yes, thermostat-controlled heating.

What do we need to bring with us?

Just your bedding, clothing, food and drink. We supply almost everything else as standard. Please see the ‘what is included in the standard hire’ so you can check!

Can I bring an appliance like a hair dryer or portable DVD player?

Yes of course - tablets / phones & low wattage hair dryers are fine, however this does depend on the amperage of each individual campsite hook up is. The campervan will cope with a supply of up to 16 amps.

What time is pick-up and drop-off?

You can pick up between 2pm – 5pm. Drop off will be before 11am. This ensures we have enough time to get the campers cleaned and checked over between hires. If your camper van is not booked out on the same day, we may be able to be flexible on these times. Please contact us to discuss.

How is the fuel charged?

When you collect your campervan, you will have a full tank of fuel, and we ask you to return with the same amount of fuel. There is a petrol station along Pembury High Street within a mile of us.

What if we have a problem with the van?

We have breakdown cover in place with the RAC, and you will have our number to call 24hrs a day if you need help.

What is your smoking policy?

For the comfort of all we operate a strict No smoking policy in the camper van and awnings, charges will apply for damages or cleaning as result of smoking in prohibited areas.

What about towing?

A tow bar is FOC but please let us know in advance what you would like to tow.

Can I leave my vehicle with you?

Of Course! On our driveway. However, we do have to state that you leave your vehicle and contents at your own risk.

Can You Deliver the Campervan to me?

We are happy to collect you from the local train station. We can sometimes offer a pick-up and drop off service, please contact us for a quote. This service is subject to availability and prices will vary depending on time & location.

Are Our Belongings Covered by The Insurance?

No, it is strongly recommended that you take out the highest level of private holiday/travel/personal possessions insurance in case of any medical or unforeseen event that might impact on your holiday. Please make sure that you arrange adequate travel insurance to cover you if you must cancel or cut short your holiday or are forced to change your plans due to an incident.
